Election of Sheriffs

Election of Sheriffs (Midsummer's Day).jpg

At noon today, according to a   custom “of immemorial use”,  two new Sheriffs of the City of London will be elected by the City Livery Companies, in the so-called Midsummer Common Hall (in the Guildhall).  In contrast to their historical predecessors, they will fulfil not judicial but rather essentially nominal and ceremonial roles.

The Guildhall is visited, although not entered, on various of our walks.

Further details of all our walks are available in the Our Guided Walks section of this web-site.

Bookings may be made through the “Contact/Booking” section of the web-site, or by e-mail (lostcityoflondon@sky.com).
