I am pleased to announce that Amberley have just accepted my latest book, “Flower Of Cities All“, for publication! Like the previous one they published for me, “The Lost City of London“, it is about the history of London up to the time of the Great Fire of 1666. At 100,000 words, though, this one is much more substantial.
I am intending to use the attached artwork on the front cover. It shows the Medieval Tower of London in the foreground, and London Bridge in the background. The figure looking wistfully out of the window in the Tower is Charles, Duc d’Orleans, who was imprisoned there for twenty-five years after having been captured at the Battle of Agincourt in 1415. While imprisoned, he began work on a of book of poems, which, when it was eventually completed, included this illuminated illustration as its frontispiece.
Hopefully in the early or middle part of next year – watch this space for further announcements!
I must buy your book! Really love the picture here and look forward to seeing it on the book. When will it be published?
